Plain Dosa

Plain Dosa is popular breakfast item in south India. This recipe is very easy to make and delicious to eat. Dosa is complemented by sambar and chutney.

Instructions
  1. Clean the rice and urad dal with water. Soak the rice and urad dal with methi seeds in a separate bowl for 5-6 hr.
  2. Grind soaked Urad dal with little water and make a smooth paste. Pour the paste in a big mixing bowl. In the same grinder, grind soaked rice and cooked rice together with little water. Add enough water for it to be able to grind. Grind till becomes a fine paste. Pour the batter into a mixing bowl, then add urad dal paste to it. Mix well, and keep it in a warm place over night for fermentation.
  3. After overnight fermentation, the dosa batter would look similar to picture.
  4. Add one cup water to dosa batter and salt(to taste), and mix till it until batter gets to pour consistency.
  5. Heat the nonstick pan in a high-medium heat. Once it is hot, reduce heat to medium. Pour the batter in center of the pan. and spread it to a nice circular shape.
  6. Spread 1 tsp oil all over. When its become a slightly golden color then roll it from one side.
  7. Serve hot with sambhar and coconut chutney.
