Tengra Fish Curry

Tengra fish is one of the tasty fish found in Bengal. This recipe is very easy to prepare and mostly famous in Bihar and Bengal state in India.

  1. Ingredients for Tengra fish curry.
  2. Clean the fish and wipe with kitchen tissue. In a mixing bowl, add fish and all marination ingredients listed in the ingredients list. Mix it well and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven at 400 degree. Line the baking tray with aluminium foil and grease with some oil. Place the marinated fish on baking tray and bake for 25 minute and until golden color from all sides or you can roast on non-stick pan or griddle.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add 1/4 tsp cumin seeds wait till crackles. Add onion, ginger and garlic paste, little salt and spring onion into the oil. Saute at medium heat till slightly golden color.
  5. Add coriander-cumin powder, black pepper powder, turmeric powder, mustard powder, chili powder, amchoor powder and 1/4 cup water then saute the masala for 5 minutes or till masala gets fried very well.. Add 2 cups of water, and bring it to boil. Once it starts boiling, add grilled fish into the curry. Cook it for 2-3 minutes. Turn off the heat. Adjust the consistency of curry as per your taste.
  6. Tengra fish curry is ready to be served. Enjoy hot with rice or roti.
