Tandoori Salmon

Salmon fish marinated with aromatic Indian tandoori spices and grilled either in to clay tandoor or oven is really a great dish. Salmon fish has less bones and its really very tasty and healthy. Flavored tandoori salmon recipe is perfect non vegetarian meal for summer outdoor grilling. When served with yogurt mint chutney and green salad it makes it more delicious.

Ingredients

  1. Clean the fish in running water. Wipe all water from fish by clean kitchen towel.
  2. Roast gram flour in 1 tsp oil at low to medium heat till slightly golden color. Take 1/2 cup yogurt or curd in muslin cloth and hang it till water the water stops dropping from cloth. Wrap it in to 3 layers of kitchen paper towel along with cloth so that it absorbs remaining moisture from the curd and would make curd more thicker. In mixing bowl, add hung curd, gram masala, salt, tandoori masala, mint & coriander chutney, roasted gram flour, garlic & ginger paste, lemon juice and mustard oil. Mix all ingredients very nicely.
  3. Take fish pieces in plate and rub the tandoori masala mixture on fish from both side carefully.
  4. Put marinated fish into zip lock bag. Keep it in to refrigerator for 1-2 hrs.
  5. Preheat the oven at 400 degree F. Line the baking tray with aluminium foil and grease some oil on it. Place the marinated fish carefully on lined baking tray. Place the tray in preheated oven on low rack. Bake it on baking mode for 5-6 minutes then turn on it on broil mode, place the tray on upper rack. Let it broil for 10 minutes until fish gets dark brown color.
  6. Once it gets dark brown, flip the fish to other side very carefully. Make sure it doesn't break. Grill it for 6-7 minutes or until fish gets dark brown on other side.( Keep checking to ensure it is not overcooked as the grilling time would vary depending on thickness of the slices)
  7. When its done, remove grilled fish from oven, turn off the oven and let it cool down.
  8. Yummy tandoori salmon fish is ready to be served. Place the grilled fish in serving plate.
  9. Serve it with green salad & curd mint & coriander chutney.
  10. You can serve as a main dish or cut in smaller pieces and serve as appetizer too.
