Instructions
  1. Clean the fish in running water and drain all water from fish. Marinate the fish with ginger-garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder and chili powder. Rub all ingredients on fish very nicely. Cover it and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in kadhai at medium to high heat. Once its hot enough and smoke starts come out from the oil, reduce the heat at medium heat. Add cumin and methi seeds in it. Wait till cumin and methi seeds gets brown. Add ground onion, ginger-garlic paste and salt. Saute it for 14-15 minutes till onion gets golden brown.
  3. Mix all the spices ingredient in a bowl and keep it ready.
  4. Add tomato puree and spices mix and saute it for 2 minutes till masala gets nicely fried.
  5. Once its done, add 1 cup of water and stir. Let it boil at low to medium heat about 5 minutes.
  6. In parallel, heat a non-stick pan or griddle at high to medium heat. Once its hot, reduce the heat at medium heat. Sprinkle some oil on griddle. Place the fish on it and grill it from all side till golden color.
  7. Once it done, place it in a plate.
  8. Add grilled fish into boiling curry. Let it boil for 2 minutes. Curry should be of medium consistency. Stir fish very carefully. Do not stir it too hard else it will get mashed. Turn off the heat. Keep it covered for 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer the fish curry in to serving bowl.
  10. Tilapia fish curry is ready to be served.
  11. Serve fish curry with rice and fulka( roti).
