Mango Shrikhand & Kesar Pista Shrikhand

Shrikhand is a sweet dessert made with thick yogurt (curd) which is very famous in Maharashtra and Gujarat. As such making Shrikhand is very easy however processing yogurt is little time consuming. This recipe is in two flavor, mango and pista, you can tune the recipe to your taste. It’s tastes awesome when serve chilled.

  1. Ingredients for Shrikand. To make hung curd, take 8 cups of full fat yogurt in a muslin cloth, tie it and hang it for about 2-3 hours until water stops draining from it. Place a clean kitchen towel on kitchen counter, add a layer of tissue paper on the same then place the hung curd along with muslin cloth, wrap the curd with the kitchen towel and store in the fridge for 2-3 hours.
  2. Take out the hung curd from fridge, add in a food processor, blend it with powder sugar at low setting until it is mixed consistently.
  3. Add cardamom powder, pistachios and nutmeg powder, blend it well in the food processor. You can take out part of the shrikhand at this stage as Pista Shrikand is ready.
  4. To make mango shrikhand, add mango pulp and mix again. You can add sugar to your taste.
  5. Mango shrikhand is ready. Cover the shrikhand and keep in refrigerator for one hour.
  6. Garnish with Pistachio, saffron and cardamom powder, serve Pista Shirkhand chilled as a dessert.
