Sabudana Khichdi

Sabudana Khichdi is a Maharashtrian dish and mainly used during fasting. However this recipe is a variant from what is used during fasting. You may not want to use some ingredients from this which is not eaten during fasting. Please tweak in based on your tradition. It is also used as breakfast and also as snacks.

Ingredients

  1. Wash sabudana two to three times with water. Soak sabudana in enough water for overnight or 4-5 hrs.
  2. After soaking Sabudana will become fluffy and bigger in size.
  3. Ingredients for Sabudana Khichdi. Roast the peanuts and coarse grind it.
  4. Heat oil in a kadahi, once it hot enough, add cumin seeds, when it starts crackling add curry leaves. Add onion and little salt and saute it for 5-6 minutes or till onion gets slightly golden at medium heat.
  5. Add potato, let it cook at medium heat until potato gets soft and cooked very well with lid on. Add sabudana and crushed peanuts in to it. Stir it well and cover with lid.
  6. Cook for 8-9 minutes at medium heat or until sabudana gets cooked well.
  7. Add lemon juice, jaggrey or sugar, black pepper and coriander leaves in to it.
  8. Saute it for 2 minutes. Cover it and turn off the heat.
  9. Hot sabudana khichdi is ready to be served.
  10. Enjoy hot this yummy dish as a breakfast or as a snack with masala tea.
Recipe Notes

1.) Please do not use the ingredients which are not eaten during fast.
