Ragi Malt Sweet Apple Porridge

There is no doubt that ragi provides many health benefits, and there are various healthy recipes which can be incorporated into your daily lives such as ragi dosa, ragi idli, Butter milk drink etc. This recipe is a healthy breakfast made with ragi malt and apple.

  1. Ragi Millet Flour. You can use any brand.
  2. Ingredients for Ragi apple porridge.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan at low to medium heat. Add ragi malt.
  4. Dry roast the flour at low to medium heat until sweetly aromatic. Once it is done turn off the heat.
  5. Ragi Malt is ready for the porridge. This flour can be stored up to 2-3 months in airtight containers or in the freezer.
  6. Peel the apples and make a puree.
  7. In a pan, add apple puree and jaggrey and cook it until you get a thick mixture. Turn off the heat. Adjust the quantity of Jaggrey if the apple is naturally very sweet.
  8. Cooked ingredients picture. Grind the dry fruits and make a coarse powder. Keep it aside.
  9. I am using the stove to make the porridge however it can also be prepared in a microwave oven. In a sauce pan, add milk and 1/4 cup of roasted ragi malt, mix it well and ensure there are no lumps in it. Heat it at medium heat and stir it continuously.
  10. Cook until ragi mixture gets a little thick consistency. Turn off the heat.
  11. Take ragi malt in a bowl, mix apple mixture, dry fruit powder and honey very well. Ragi malt apple porridge is ready to be served.
  12. Serve hot or cold as a breakfast or as a dessert. Very nutritious as a breakfast for children!
